2020 Youth Dance Standards

The 2020 dance and dress standards for multi-stake youth dances and activities are based on principles and guidelines from "For The Strength Of Youth."

Admittance of any youth requires appropriate dress and adherence to standards. It is expected that youth will show respect for the Lord and themselves by dressing modestly and behaving appropriately. Final decisions concerning the appropriateness of an individual's dress and his/her admittance to the dance is the responsibility of the priesthood leader presiding at the dance.

Youth attending the dance must be 14-18 years of age (turning 14 that year is ok), be clean, well-groomed, and modestly dressed. Behavior in and around the Church building will be in accordance with Church standards.

Respect and care for the Church building and grounds, safe and courteous driving, and respect and consideration for the neighbors of the building is expected. Anyone using tobacco, alcohol, or controlled substances prior to or during the dance will be required to leave. Intimate positions, and obscene or suggestive dance movements are not allowed and dancers must remain upright.

Violation of any of these standards will be reported to the individual's bishop, and offenders will be held responsible for their actions. The way you dress sends messages about yourself to others and often influences the way you and others act.

You should dress in such a way as to bring out the best in you and others. The following standards are used: ·No tight-fitting or revealing clothes, including pants with holes·No bare/exposed midriff·No extremes in clothing and/or appearance·No sleeveless or bare shoulders·No low-cut necklines (front or back)·No tank or halter tops·No dress/skirt lengths or slits that are shorter than knee-length, even with leggings.·No grubbies, sweats, sweatshirts or overalls·No shirts with offensive writing or logos·No body-piercing jewelry (single pair earrings for women)·Young men should wear a collared shirt.·If the activity is casual dress, shorts must be knee length
